At 6:00 this morning we embarked on a 10-hour road trip to Young Harris, GA for our friend Adam’s wedding. Harper opted for a long weekend in Charlottesville rather than sit in the car for 20 hours, but we did bring Gordon and Charlotte along for the ride. Sidenote: the best quote of the trip so far was Gordon’s comment in a Sheetz gas station, “hey they don’t have any Perrier.” Anyway, I thought I would take this opportunity to write a brief pregnancy update, since my only other options are to either watch Enchanted or witness Gordon break open container laws at 8:30 AM (you think I’m kidding):
With just over 8 weeks to go, I am definitely starting to get uncomfortable. The first time around everything was new and exciting, and while this is also exciting, I am feeling all of the aches and pains of pregnancy much more than I did with Harper. I am trying to rest as much as possible, but by the end of the day I literally cannot stand up anymore! I also thought that this time around I might get a calmer baby, but so far it’s not looking that way – he is quite the kicker and usually aims right for my ribs.
In terms of preparations, Harper is moved out of the nursery and is settled in her new room, but we still have a few things to do to get the nursery ready. I’ve also sorted through all of Harper’s clothes and picked out the few gender-neutral things that we had for her. Now I understand why people buy yellow and green – we are swimming in pink! We are hoping that we don’t have a naked baby boy, but it’s not looking great at the moment. Lots of people have asked about names, and no, we haven’t picked one yet. We don’t even have a list! Hopefully after 20 hours in the car we will at least have a few options.
We will take a “belly picture” in a few weeks when I am officially as big as a house. Harper is enjoying my big belly very much and loves to kiss and hug it. It also makes a nice shelf for her to sit on
