I've been meaning to post this for a while. Harper is starting to really talk in sentences and comes up with some interesting statements. Below are some gems.
A conversation at the dinner table:
Harper: Baby eat?
Me: Yes Harper, what does the baby eat?
Harper: Breakfast.
Me: Really? What else does the baby eat?
Harper: Oatmeal.
We work on Harper's letters a lot and she knows almost the entire alphabet. We've been teaching her a word for each letter, so she knows "A is for Apple, T is for Tiger, R is for RoRo," etc. She knows the "correct" word for every letter, with one exception, and she is absolutely determined that she is right!
Me: Harper, O is for what?
Harper: Pee pee.
Me: No, O is for Oscar (as in Oscar the Grouch). What is O for?
Harper: Pee pee.
Along those lines, we are also working on counting. She knows the numbers 1-10, but not necessarily in the correct order. We joke that she likes to count by prime numbers.
Me: Harper let's count. One... what comes after one?
Harper: twooooo, fiiivvee, niiine
Me: Good! What comes after five?
Harper: Pee pee.
Me: SIX comes after five. One, two, three, four, five, SIX. What comes after five?
Harper: Pee pee.
