Fall Harperisms

Skipping Naps
Yesterday Harper didn’t nap. She almost always sleeps, but if for some reason she doesn’t, she at least has to stay in her bed and rest for one hour. When I came in to release her yesterday she had organized her mimi’s on top of her blankie and arranged each one with its own pacifier.

Me: “Harper, did you make this little nest with your blankie? This is cool!”
Harper: “Yeah I made it for da mimi’s and da mimi’s were wying down wif me, den I telled myself dat I’m awake now!”

Harper is definitely a kid who needs a nap. When she doesn’t nap she starts to get crazy around 3-4 pm. Yesterday around this time she very politely asked for a graham cracker. I gave her one, and she promptly put it in her sock and walked around the kitchen to get it nice and crunched up. I sent her into the living room and started to clean up the mess and heard her and Roman in a fit of giggles. I naively thought to myself “cute, they are playing nicely together.” Ha. I went to peek at them and found Harper walking up our newly carpeted stairs and dumping juice on them one-by-one while Roman encouraged her with his giggles!

Dining Out

Me: “So, what do you guys want for lunch?”
Harper: “Wets get Chipot-way, but I just want wice and beans wif no chicken and no salad!”

“What does it start with?”
Harper’s favorite game lately has been “what does it start with.” It goes something like this:

Harper: “Duh-duh-dog! What does ‘dog’ start with, mommy?”
Me: “Um, you tell me, what does duh-duh-dog start with?”
Harper: “D! It starts with D! Wets think of some other words that start with D!”
Me: “Okay, how about ‘dishes’?”
Harper: “Yeah! And duh-duh-dwink!”

And so on. Last night we were playing the game with the letter C and it went like this:

Me: “cuh-cuh-car! Car starts with ‘C’! Now it’s your turn.”
Harper: “cuh-cuh-cupcake!”
Me: “cuh-cuh-cow!”
Harper: “cuh-cuh-copperating!”
Me: “You mean cooperating?”
Harper: “Yeah! Like I’m copperating!”

Winter Fun

Harper: “I’m so ‘cited! Daddy’s gonna take me snowing when it skis outside!”
