Ada turned 4 months old last week – where oh where has the time gone! We had her 4-month checkup on Tuesday and she weighed 14 pounds, 4 ounces (67th percentile), was 24 1/4 inches long (52nd percentile) and her head was in the 53rd percentile. She has already outgrown all of the teeny tiny newborn outfits and fits comfortably into Harper’s old 6-month clothes (that Harper wore in the summer at 6-8 months – she was a peanut). She is the sweetest little chubby thing! This morning she woke up and her first tooth had broken through (yes, my kids teeth very early), which explains the excessive amount of slobbering that she has been doing!
At 4 months she is starting to be a little more active. She rolls all over the place – especially in her crib at night. I will put her down in one place and find her on the complete opposite side in a different position. She holds her head up really well and likes to look around to see what’s going on (there is usually a LOT going on around here!) She laughs, giggles, and has a big huge smile. And best of all, she sleeps! She is sleeping 10-hour stretches at night, eating, and then going back to sleep for another 2-3 hours. On top of that she takes at least two 2-3 hour naps during the day. Just in the last few weeks she started going to sleep a lot easier – I just feed her, lay her down, and she does the rest of the work! The only complaint I have is that she only likes to sleep lying down, which means she does not sleep very well in the car. This makes car trips a little difficult, and I just have to make sure we are home when she is ready to sleep because she gets MAD!
Ada’s personality is super easy-going. She will sit in her seat and deal with all of the hugs, kisses, and attention from her siblings like a champ. She “sings” to herself and shrieks very loudly – it is very happy and sweet. I just love her!!
I feel like we are adjusting very well to life with 3 kids. A lot of people say that going from one kid to two kids is the hardest thing, then any additional kids are not as hard. I totally disagree. Two was easy – the jump from two to three has been so much harder. It’s much more of a challenge for me to take them all out of the house by myself, but I can do it. I’ve grown a lot more patient, that’s for sure! Going to a restaurant other than Chipotle is pretty much out of the question. We’ve done it a few times, and Portman and I barely get to eat anything. Even though they are a handful right now, I’m so glad that they are all so close in age.
Here are a few more shots of the baby girl from the past few weeks. We just took a quick trip to Chincoteague and Assateague Islands and she was a great trooper!
